Working principle

WCB hard sealed flanged ball valve Q41H-16C-DN300 relies on its simple and effective mechanical structure to achieve its work. The ball valve is a rotary valve with a Angle of 90°. In the opening and closing process, the operation is relatively straightforward. When it is necessary to open the valve, the operator's hand action is used to exert force on the handle or related operating parts (such as the actuator part when connected to the actuator) to turn the valve stem. Because the valve stem is connected to the internal sphere by a certain connection, as the valve stem rotates, the sphere will also rotate around its own central axis.


At the beginning of the opening operation, the sphere gradually begins to rotate and leave the sealing surface. Because it is in the form of a floating ball, when the ball leaves the sealing surface of the seat on both sides, the compression force on the seat is relieved, so that a channel is formed between them, so that the medium can smoothly flow through the gap between the ball and the seat. Because this floating design allows the ball to move slightly within a certain range during opening, it helps reduce friction and wear between the ball and the seat, thereby extending the service life of the ball and seat sealing surface.


From a hydrodynamic point of view, the ball valve has a low flow resistance coefficient in the open state (in fact, it can be approximately zero). This very low coefficient of flow resistance is due to the shape of the ball and the channel inside the valve body. The fluid flowing through the ball valve mainly flows through the channel formed between the ball and the upstream and downstream seat, and the surface of the ball itself is relatively smooth, and the change of the shape of the channel is smooth and continuous, and will not cause sharp contraction or expansion of the fluid, so the fluid resistance is very small compared with other types of valves. This characteristic is very advantageous in practical industrial applications, especially in some fluid transmission systems with large flow requirements and low pressure loss requirements, such as some large chemical raw material transmission pipeline systems, power plant cooling circulating water systems or urban gas transmission pipe networks []7]()8.


When it is necessary to close the valve, the reverse operation handle or actuator part, the valve stem drives the ball to reverse rotation, and the ball gradually approaches and finally presses on the seat. The material used in the seat (may be polytetrafluoroethylene (room temperature), special PPL (high temperature), cemented carbide (high temperature), etc.) can provide good sealing performance. Under normal closure, the ball is in close contact with the seat, preventing fluid from continuing to pass through. At the same time, for this type of ball valve, if it is used in a high temperature environment, it may use an elastic loading structure or a special compensation structure, which can effectively compensate the thermal expansion of the internals in the case of closure. This avoids the phenomenon of sticking caused by inconsistent expansion or contraction of internal components due to temperature changes, ensuring that the valve can be closed normally and maintain a sealed state.


In the operation of truncated media, sealing is a very critical performance. Q41H-16C-DN300 ball valve adopts the hard sealing method, such as the cemented carbide sealing surface and the ball. This sealing form has its unique advantages compared with soft sealing, such as better maintenance of sealing performance under high temperature, high pressure, with granular media or certain corrosive media. The sealing principle depends on the highly precise processing size match between the ball and the seat, as well as the wear resistance, high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance and other performance characteristics of the cemented carbide sealing surface itself.
